北野の環境を、山、働き方、食という3つの観点からご説明します。
1. 山 MOUNTAIN
住宅地だが、そのすぐ裏は山。家の窓や屋上からは木々の濃い緑が目に飛び込んでくる。北から南へ（＝山から海に向けて）いわゆる“六甲おろし”が吹いているので、朝夕など特に空気が気持ち良い。また静かな住宅地でもあるので、閑静で、騒がしくない。
家の玄関を出ると、すぐ山に入っていくことのできる場所も多く、普段の生活の中に山トレッキングを取り入れることも可能。仕事の前に、合間にひとっ走り。
Kitano is a residential area with mountain just behind. Dark mountain greens can be seen through window frames and from rooftops. There is natural breezing from north to south (mountain to ocean), and especially, airs in the morning and evening are quite comfortable. Also, the area is quiet and tranquil. If you exit out from your places, you can easily enter mountains to do trail running during or before the work.
2. 仕事場 WORK SPACE
昔から外国人が多く住んでいるエリアなので、外観や内装が日本的でなく、面積も100㎡とか200㎡の住宅が少なくない。広い自宅の一部をオフィスやアトリエにして、ということも十分可能。住宅以外に、商業ビルの店舗区画も三宮駅前と比べると安い。もと店舗だったところをオフィスとして借りたり。他人とシェアしてオフィスの家賃を節約する工夫もしやすい。外国的で古い物件が多い分、内装は自分でしなくてはいけないケースが多いのは独特だが、自分で空間をつくりたい人にはかえって良いとも言える。
また北野は、出張の多い人に使い勝手の良いエリアである。新幹線新神戸駅まで徒歩で15分〜20分。神戸空港へも家から30〜40分（三宮駅まで徒歩15〜20分＋ポートライナー20分）。自宅から東京のクライアントのところへ行くとして、飛行機だとトータル3時間程度。9時に出れば12時の打ち合わせには間に合う。
Since it has been an area with many westerners living, buildings are designed for western style and the unit sizes are quite large such as 100m2 to 200m2. Because it is quite larger than normal Japanese space, you might be able to make a part of the space to office or atelier. Former retail/restaurant spaces are reasonable compared to the Sannomiya area where you might consider for renting as an office or sharing spaces with friends. The building tends to be old and you might need to refurbish interior for your self, however if you want to build your own space, it might be perfect for you. Also, it is good for people travelling around many. Shinkansen station is 15 to 20 min walking distance and Kobe airport is 30 to 40 min by train and walk. If you head to your client office in Tokyo from your home/office in Kobe, it would take about 3 hours. If you leave 9am from Kobe, you can be at 12pm meeting in Tokyo.
3. 食 FOOD
駅からは少し離れ、かつ坂を上がった上にある北野エリアは一般的な飲食店が多いとは言えない。けれども、逆に言えば知る人ぞ知る隠れ家レストランがあったり、落ち着いた環境で仕事をしたりお客さんとやり取りしたい食の事業者さんはひそかに工房兼ショップを持っていたりする。ジャムやコンフィチュールをつくるお店、コーヒーのロースター、こだわりのパン屋、ドイツワインの専門店など。また神戸市内の農家が野菜をじかに届けにくる拠点があり、新鮮な野菜も身近に手に入れられるところも、生活と仕事が一体化した環境としては嬉しいことのひとつだ。
Since Kitano is a bit far from station and located in steeply area, there are not many restaurants. However, there are hidden restaurants in a cozy naroow streets and food related businesses who wants to work in tranquil neighborhood is located such as comfiture makers, coffee roasters, unique bakery, germen wine importers, and others. There is a vegetable delivery station from farmers. It is nice to have your private life space and work place at the same time.
